EDS delighted to support Vattenfall on the second ever 66kV wind farm

High Voltage Engineering Specialists EDS HV Management have been appointed to act on behalf of Vattenfall at Aberdeen Offshore Wind Farm, also known as the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre.  Located off Aberdeen Bay, the offshore wind test and demonstration facility will have 11 turbines, an installed capacity of 92.4MW, and will produce enough electricity every year to meet the equivalent annual demand of 78,529 homes.

The project will enable Vattenfall to help the industry reach its goal of continuously reducing the Levelised Cost of Energy (LCOE) by allowing the testing of evolving technology. Importantly, it will be only the second wind farm in the industry to use 66kV, and the expertise of an industry leader such as EDS is valued in delivering this innovation.

EDS HV Management will provide HV consulting services to include safety rules consultancy, design reviews and SCADA system review.

Ryan Henderson, Group Director at EDS said:

“This further cements an excellent relationship that we have built up with Vattenfall over the past 3 years, including supporting them with critical consultancy services at projects such as Pen y Cymoedd and Kentish Flats Extension. We look forward to building upon that relationship and playing a significant part in this important project.

“EDS is part of a growing and competitive UK supply chain that is contributing towards the growth of a world leading offshore wind sector.”
